A walk through the Mediterranean scrub and incense workshop with herbalist Francesco Cassitta
Monte Pino opens the door to the world of its scents, plants and most precious essences.
Accompanied by Francesco Cassitta, herbalist from Telti and expert in herbs and spices, participants will enjoy an experience in nature discovering the extraordinary floral richness of Gallura.
Walking along the trails of Monte Pino means entering the scents and colours of the Mediterranean scrub. Juniper, myrtle, strawberry tree, lentisk and wild aromatic plants tell of an environment shaped by sun, wind and granite.
But how many of these plants do we really know how to recognise? How many times have we walked beside a myrtle shrub or brushed the leaves of the lentisk without knowing their features, uses and properties?
During the excursion, Francesco Cassitta will teach us to observe what often escapes a distracted gaze: the shape of a leaf, the texture of a bark, the scent of an aromatic plant and the extraordinary strategies with which Mediterranean vegetation adapts to the territory.
But the experience will not end with the walk.
At the end of the route, participants will be involved in a particularly evocative moment: the creation of an incense.
Guided by the herbalist’s experience, we will discover how knowledge of plants and essences can give life to a preparation able to preserve and return the scents of nature.
